The American University of Rome Adds Psychology to Its Curriculum, Launching Fall 2026 With an International Perspective
The American University of Rome has announced a new Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, launching in Fall 2026. The programme combines the academic rigour of an American liberal arts education with an international perspective rooted in Rome’s unique position as a crossroads of cultures, history and human complexity.The degree offers students the chance to study human behaviour not from a textbook but from the vantage point of one of the world’s most historically layered and culturally dense cities. Rather than confining psychology to the laboratory, AUR’s approach emphasises experiential learning and real-world application. Students will connect psychological concepts with issues in education, community life, organisations, communication, and public service, using Rome’s institutions and communities as extensions of the classroom.The curriculum allows students to draw connections between psychology and a wide range of disciplines, including visual culture, leadership, media, language, politics, tourism, education, and global mobility. This breadth develops the flexible thinking and cross-cultural communication skills increasingly valued in graduate programmes and professional fields globally.AUR’s teaching model prioritises learning by doing.
