Ciampino also receives recognition from ACI.
Rome’s Fiumicino airport, known officially as Leonardo da Vinci, has been rated Best Airport in Europe with more than 40 million passengers for the ninth year in a row.
The Airport Service Quality (ASQ) recognition, announced on Tuesday, was awarded by Airports Council International (ACI), the international association that interviews passengers to measure perceived quality in airports.
The ASQ survey for 2025 was based on ratings gathered from around 700,000 people who travelled through more than 400 airports all over the world.
With a record score of 4.64 (on a scale of 1 to 5), Fiumicino ranks first among all 124 European airports and among the major European and North American hubs participating in the latest survey.
Fiumicino also won all award categories: in addition to Best Airport, it won the awards for Most Dedicated Staff, Easiest Airport Journey, Most Enjoyable, and Cleanest Airport in Europe, excelling in customer experience, from journey efficiency and hospitality to cleanliness and overall comfort.
The recognition for Fiumicino is the latest in a string of awards for Italy’s largest airport.
There was good news too for Rome’s other airport, Ciampino, which was recognised by ACI as Europe’s best airport in the category of 2 to 5 million passengers, as well as the Most Dedicated Staff.
Marco Troncone, CEO of Aeroporti di Roma, hailed the result as “further confirmation of the great work done by our people and the entire airport community every day,” pledging to continue investing in innovation and infrastructure to make Fiumicino “an increasingly strategic platform for global transit flows”.
Troncone added that a record total of 55 million passengers passed through Fiumicino and Ciampino airports in 2025.
