Rome residents who wish to create Christmas magic in their home can find trees of various sizes for sale in numerous outlets around the capital, from vivai garden centres to florists.
So where to buy a Christmas tree in Rome? Here are some tips.
Artificial Christmas trees – along with lights and decorations – can be picked up at many of the city’s larger department stores such as Leroy Merlin and Coin, as well as some supermarkets such as Maury’s.
Christmas trees go on sale in late November/early December at garden centres around Rome, with prices from €60 to €180, or upwards of €200 if you are looking for a particularly large tree.
Garden centres will usually deliver the tree to your home for a fee of about €20 to €30 and in some cases this includes collection too.
Natural Green, on Via di Villa Betania 7 in the Villa Pamphilj area, generally has a good selection, as does Garden 3 Fontane, on Via Laurentina 90 in the EUR district.
Those living near the Trastevere and Marconi areas should check out the Fleur Garden points on Viale di Trastevere 193 and Viale Guglielmo Marconi 698 respectively.
Other garden centres selling Christmas trees include Vivaio Bonsaidea on Via Ardeatina 521/c; Il Vivaio San Placido on Via Ardeatina 620; and Vivaio Roma Garden on Via della Maglianella 51 (Boccea area).
The Campagna Amica farmers’ market on Via di San Teodoro near the Circus Maximus also usually sells Christmas trees of various sizes.
You will find many more garden centres the further away you go from the city centre, with IKEA stores in Porta di Roma and Anagnina also offering small trees as well as a range of artificial versions.
Many of the city’s florists sell small Christmas trees, Poinsettia plants, door wreaths and table decorations to add a touch of festive cheer to your home over the holiday season.
