Jolie met patients at Bambino Gesù hospital.
Hollywood star Angelina Jolie made a surprise visit to young patients at Rome’s Bambino Gesù paediatric hospital on Sunday.
The Oscar-winning American actress, long known for her humanitarian work, paid tribute to the medical staff at the hospital which welcomes children from around the world, particularly from war-torn areas.
Jolie, who also visited the Vatican-run hospital in 2022, was in the Italian capital to promote her new movie Couture at the Rome Film Fest.

“I am grateful to the Italian doctors and nurses for the care they provide to the children I met”, Jolie said in a statement on the hospital’s Instagram page, calling for greater help internationally for “injured, displaced, and vulnerable children around the world, where the number of people affected by war has never been higher.”
Jolie dedicated more than 20 years of service to UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, serving as a Goodwill Ambassador from 2001-2012 and then as Special Envoy until 2022.
