De Niro will be in Rome to launch Nobu Hotel.
Hollywood legend Robert De Niro will receive Rome’s highest honour, the Lupa Capitolina, while he is in the Italian capital in early November, the city announced on Tuesday.Rome’s councillor for major events, sport, tourism and fashion Alessandro Onorato said the city’s mayor Roberto Gualtieri decided to bestow the award in city hall during De Niro’s stay in the capital for the inauguration of his Nobu Hotel on Via Veneto.
Onorato made the announcement during the launch of the Fuori Sala event which will include meetings, readings and presentations related to cinema and books, held at some of Rome’s most prestigious hotels in the historic centre in October and November.
De Niro, celebrated for his roles in iconic films including Raging Bull, Taxi Driver and Goodfellas, traces his Italian heritage to the central Molise region.
