Museums in Rome open for Ferragosto 2025.
Italy’s state museums, archaeological sites, galleries and historic villas will open on the Ferragosto public holiday on Friday 15 August, the culture ministry confirmed on Monday.
The ministry has stressed that the initiative is not part of Italy’s free museum openings and that the usual admission fees will apply.
State-run cultural and historic sites will open during normal opening hours on 15 August, with advance booking where required.
Major landmarks staying open in Italy include the Colosseum, Pompeii, Herculaneum, Reggia di Caserta, Castel Sant’Angelo and the Pantheon.
