{"id":45579,"date":"2026-04-03T12:46:01","date_gmt":"2026-04-03T10:46:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/polinex.cluster021.hosting.ovh.net\/index.php\/2026\/04\/03\/gianmarco-mazzi-named-italys-new-tourism-minister\/"},"modified":"2026-04-03T12:46:01","modified_gmt":"2026-04-03T10:46:01","slug":"gianmarco-mazzi-named-italys-new-tourism-minister","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/polinex.cluster021.hosting.ovh.net\/index.php\/2026\/04\/03\/gianmarco-mazzi-named-italys-new-tourism-minister\/","title":{"rendered":"Gianmarco Mazzi named Italy&#8217;s new tourism minister"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Mazzi replaces Daniela Santanch\u00e9 who resigned under pressure from Meloni after justice referendum defeat<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n<p>Gianmarco Mazzi, a former undersecretary at Italy&#8217;s culture ministry, has replaced Daniela Santanch\u00e9 as tourism minister following\u00a0her resignation\u00a0last week.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am honoured to be appointed to this role&#8221; &#8211;\u00a0Mazzi stated\u00a0after being sworn in by Italy&#8217;s president Sergio Mattarella on Friday &#8211;\u00a0&#8220;Tourism is a world rich in charm and great professionalism that requires meticulous care because it represents a pillar of the Italian economy&#8221;.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who is Gianmarco Mazzi?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Mazzi, 65 and a native of Verona, brings an unusual background to the role.<\/p>\n<p>He graduated in law and built a decades-long career as a cultural and entertainment producer before entering politics with Fratelli d&#8217;Italia, the rightwing party led by prime minister Giorgia Meloni.<\/p>\n<p>In 1981, alongside Mogol and Gianni Morandi, he co-founded the Nazionale Cantanti charitable project, which over more than 40 years has raised and donated more than \u20ac50 million for humanitarian causes.<\/p>\n<p>He went on to direct six editions of the Sanremo music festival, managed Adriano Celentano&#8217;s television and artistic activities for two decades, and served as artistic director and chief executive of the company overseeing live and television operations at the Arena di Verona from 2017 to 2022.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Referendum fallout<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The ministerial change forms part of a broader governmental shake-up following the Meloni administration&#8217;s\u00a0defeat in a constitutional referendum on judicial reform.<\/p>\n<p>Meloni described the result as &#8220;a lost opportunity to modernise Italy&#8221; but confirmed she would continue as prime minister.<\/p>\n<p>The defeat triggered a swift round of departures from government.
