{"id":28285,"date":"2025-08-25T09:29:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-25T07:29:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polinex.cluster021.hosting.ovh.net\/index.php\/2025\/08\/25\/italys-schools-get-ready-to-reopen-with-new-rules\/"},"modified":"2025-08-25T09:29:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-25T07:29:22","slug":"italys-schools-get-ready-to-reopen-with-new-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/polinex.cluster021.hosting.ovh.net\/index.php\/2025\/08\/25\/italys-schools-get-ready-to-reopen-with-new-rules\/","title":{"rendered":"Italy&#8217;s schools get ready to reopen, with new rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>School reopen between 8 and 16 September, with opening dates varying from region to region<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n<p>Around seven million students in Italy are returning to the classroom as schools across the country reopen after the summer holidays, with several new rules in place.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Phone ban<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Italy&#8217;s education minister Giuseppe Valditara in June banned mobile phones for all students in elementary, middle and high schools, with effect from the start of the new school year this September.<\/p>\n<p>This extends an\u00a0existing ban on phones in schools from primary to junior high level, introduced last year.<\/p>\n<p>The move, designed to reduce distractions and improve academic focus, requires phones to be stored in designated compartments during class time and school hour.<\/p>\n<p>The measure also aims to encourage handwritten work and a return to more traditional learning materials including a paper homework journal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Maturit\u00e0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Valditara, has also announced an important change to the final year oral exam, part of the\u00a0so-called\u00a0Maturit\u00e0\u00a0exams.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this year several high school seniors made headlines for boycotting the oral exam, as a form of silent protest, but ultimately passed the Maturit\u00e0 anyway.<\/p>\n<p>Under the new rules, those who deliberately refuse to take the oral exam will fail.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When do schools in Italy reopen after the summer holidays?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The reopening date of Italy&#8217;s schools varies according to region, with the autonomous province of Bolzano the first to reopen, on 8 September.<\/p>\n<p>Schools will reopen in Piemonte, Valle d&#8217;Aosta, Veneto and\u00a0the autonomous province of Trento on 10 September.<\/p>\n<p>The next day students return to the classroom in Friuli Venezia-Giulia, followed on 12 September by Lombardia.<\/p>\n<p>On 15 September schools repen in Abruzzo, Basilicata, Campania, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Liguria, Marche, Molise, Sardinia, Sicily, Tuscany and Umbria.<\/p>\n<p>The last regions to reopen schools, on 16 September, are Calabria and Puglia.<\/p>\n<p><em>Photo credit: Stefano Guidi \/ Shutterstock.com<\/em>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>School reopen between 8 and 16 September, with opening dates varying from region to region.
