{"id":28164,"date":"2025-08-24T19:10:31","date_gmt":"2025-08-24T17:10:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/polinex.cluster021.hosting.ovh.net\/index.php\/2025\/08\/24\/tourists-in-venice-capsize-gondola-and-end-up-in-canal\/"},"modified":"2025-08-24T19:10:31","modified_gmt":"2025-08-24T17:10:31","slug":"tourists-in-venice-capsize-gondola-and-end-up-in-canal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/polinex.cluster021.hosting.ovh.net\/index.php\/2025\/08\/24\/tourists-in-venice-capsize-gondola-and-end-up-in-canal\/","title":{"rendered":"Tourists in Venice capsize gondola and end up in canal"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Nobody injured in incident which may have been caused by passengers leaning to one side for a selfie<\/strong>.<\/h2>\n<p>A group of tourists travelling in a gondola in Venice ended up in the waters of a canal, along with the gondolier, after the boat capsized suddenly on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n<p>There was nobody injured in the incident which occurred in the Rio dei Greci canal, in the Castello district, along a narrow stretch of water that leaves little room for manoeuvre.<\/p>\n<p>The exact cause of the accident was unclear\u00a0however initial reports suggest the boat became unbalanced and capsized due to the sudden movement of the passengers, perhaps while taking selfies.<\/p>\n<p>The tourists managed to get out of the canal by clinging to window grates and moored boats and reaching the small bridge located nearby with the help of bystanders.<\/p>\n<p>A similar incident took place in Venice in November 2023 when tourists disobeyed\u00a0a gondolier&#8217;s instructions and continued to stand up and move around the gondola taking selfies.<\/p>\n<p>Predictably, when almost all the passengers&#8217; weight ended up on one side of the gondola, the unbalanced boat flipped over, tipping its occupants into the cold water.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nobody injured in incident which may have been caused by passengers leaning to one side for a selfie.
