High-powered sports car to be used in emergency medical situations.
Italy’s Carabinieri police displayed a new addition to the force’s fleet, the Maserati MCPura, in Rome’s central Piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina over the weekend.
Maserati loaned the car to the Carabinieri who will draw on its 630-horse power Nettuno twin-turbo, six-cylinder engine for the urgent transport of organs, blood and life-saving medical supplies.
“The use of this vehicle represents a further step forward in the Carabinieri’s ability to intervene quickly, safely and promptly in particularly emergency situations that require minimal response times,” the force’s general commander, Salvatore Luongo, told news agency Adnkronos.
The high-powered sports car, which can reach a top speed of 325 km p/h, was presented to the Carabinieri in October alongside an Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio.
Antonio Filosa, the CEO of the automaker giant Stellantis, said: “We are proud to provide the Carabinieri with a vehicle that represents the best of Italian technology and design—not just as a symbol of performance, but as a tool for saving lives.”
Rome’s Carabinieri recently unveiled a decidedly different Italian car – an electric Fiat Topolino – for use in the narrow streets of the city’s historic centre.
